1. University of Peradeniya

The University of Peradeniya began when the Department of Veterinary Science was established in Colombo. This was done at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ceylon in 1947.

The Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) started as a School of Agriculture in 1957, under the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1968, it was upgraded to College of Agriculture and an Intermediate of Agricultural Science for two years. It was in 1972 that the college was awarded the status of the constituent college of Tribhuvan University.

Because the institution did not have its own buildings, it operated at Jagdamba Bhawan at Pulchowk, Kathmandu. Their institute was moved to Rampur, Chitwan, in 1974. It has two campuses in Paklihawa, Rupandehi and Sundarbazar, Lamjung.
