Admission Criteria for Us Students (Who Can Apply)

Requirements for an Online Study

To complete their Miami Dade college virtual schoolwork, students must have internet connectivity and meet the technical criteria listed in the next section.

Students taking online courses should have administrative access to the computer available for the Miami Dade college class schedules. Likely, folks who don’t have administrative access to the computer (like those at a library or workplace) used for online learning won’t be able to install plug-ins or other essential components.

Due to access limitations on these networks, students will have limited assistance options in these scenarios; therefore, they should double-check with their workplace IT departments to ensure they may access course materials from their company’s network.

Students are still in charge of doing all assignments for class and homework, regardless of technical issues. For all academic work, they must use the MDC Student Portal. Anyone experiencing technical difficulties should contact their teacher and technical assistance right away.

Technical Specifications

Because technology is advancing swiftly in some industries, students should be aware that they may need to update their PCs as they complete assignments during their program. Students are responsible for reading the hardware and software requirements before registering for classes.

Payment Options

Pay all tuition and fees in full by the deadline indicated on the fee invoice. Without prior warning, tuition and fees are subject to change.

Old Miami Dade College tuition charges are the first priority when payments apply to college “Charges Due” on student accounts.

Miami Dade College provides a variety of choices, such as third-party billing, Florida prepaid billing, financial aid, fee waivers, and payment plan options, to make it simpler for students to pay their bills.

To ensure that they pay tuition, fees, and other costs on time, students must continuously check their MDC email and student account information. The student must pay by the deadline despite not receiving written notice of the tuition and fee deficit.

Students who are behind on their tuition and fees for the current semester risk having their class schedules canceled. Transcripts and course registration for the current and following semesters will be on hold while outstanding tuition balances exist.

The College may use a collection agency’s services and make every effort to recover all past-due accounts. This covers manual calling techniques, fake or prepared voice messages, emails, automated phone systems, and letters, among other communication methods.

This collection endeavor may employ any address or phone number connected to an account, now or in the future, including wireless numbers, whether or not they relate to charges.

Financial Aid

Your future is safe by investing in your education, and we all know that this can be a costly endeavor. The good news is that the Federal Student Aid division of the U.S. Department of Education helps millions of students and their families each year to the tune of more than $83 billion. This aid can pay for books, materials, tuition, fees, and other expenses.

All documentation must reach the Miami Dade college financial aid office eight weeks before the start of the term to provide the team enough time to process the data.

Admission Criteria for Foreign Students

You may qualify for admission as an international student, depending on your credentials. MDC must confirm further requirements.

Your first step toward enrolling in MDC is to view the official page if you are:

  • A bearer of a non-immigrant visa, present or prospective (F visa holders).
  • Unclear about your immigration status or how it pertains to your ability to pursue higher education. If you are, kindly use the general admissions page.
  • A holder of a green card.
  • Possess status as a refugee or asylee

Other Educational Opportunities (Such as Externships, Internships)

Every student at MDC receives one-on-one support from a Career Services team member at one of the school’s campuses in job-search strategies, market orientation, resume preparation, and interview techniques.

All graduates and currently enrolled students can use the services. Miami Dade College has a connection with local employers to help you find entry-level work once you complete your study because they want to help you achieve your professional goals from the first day of class.

Whether you are in the middle of a prosperous career or have just graduated from high school, the college will help you. You will get an invite to an interview once you have acquired the necessary abilities for the position you are aiming for.

Externships are available through several programs, enabling students to obtain hands-on experience using the tools they will use at work. For additional details on the externship program, read MDC evaluations.

Typically, veterinary technicians operate clinically in private practice under the guidance of a qualified vet. As a veterinary technician, you’ll assist a veterinarian in various settings, such as clinics, zoos, research facilities, and more, to care for animals.

The Veterinary Technician National Exam and the Certified Veterinary Technician credential are both available to MDC graduates of the Veterinary Technology degree. After graduating, the student can qualify to work with small, large, exotic, and experimental animals in various clinical settings.

A two-series prevention rabies vaccination before admission to the Veterinary Technology Program is necessary.

This degree option adds 400 hours of practical, on-the-job experience to a solid academic basis. The national exam currently has a pass rate of more than 92%. Develop the abilities you’ll need to succeed in veterinary medicine. Study areas include:

  • Anatomy
  • Physiology
  • Lab protocols
  • Skills in animal nursing
  • Medication for birds and exotic pets
  • Pathology in animals

Procedures for Credit Transfers

It is feasible if a student received a “C” or higher for a particular period. In that instance, their credits from another postsecondary institution that qualifies could undergo evaluation for transfer to an MDC program. Hourly adjustments are possible to the acceptability of transfer credit toward the program requirements.

MDC does not recognize credits obtained through challenge exams and achievement tests. Externship and senior project-required courses do not qualify for transfer credit. For studies completed with a grade of “C,” the following fulfills the subsequent time requirements:

Suppose the technical training at MDC was within three years of enrollment (core courses). If technical coursework is over six months, prospective candidates may schedule a meeting with the program director to evaluate their skills.

Prospective students must audit coursework over six months old and for which they have already received credit to ensure mastery.

You cannot transfer some science-focused general education courses. Students must complete at least 25% of the program’s prerequisites at MDC.

Students must submit accurate transcripts demonstrating their academic progress before starting the program. If certified transcripts from all colleges attended are available after the start of the program, students must complete the prerequisite course.

To complete the transfer credit analysis, MDC might require additional details, including course descriptions and program outlines. These transcripts become the college’s property and are not copied or forwarded to other academic institutions. Courses with a science focus cannot qualify for credit transfer.

Must you complete all prerequisite courses before enrolling in a degree program at MDC or elsewhere? Then MDC College is the best option for you.

The FastTrack Pathway is a set of general education courses and training that helps students clear prerequisites for other programs and avoid waiting lists for general education courses commonly offered at other educational institutions.

Experts in the educational sector are available with a clear strategy that suits your demands. The classes with a teacher are available often, about every two months. Students should interact and participate in discussions. It won’t be difficult for you to apply, pass the test, and advance your studies.

Certain programs offered by MDC or other educational institutions have prerequisite courses that must be completed to enroll. These courses are known as “prereqs.” Not all MDC programs have requirements, and the required courses can change based on the program’s schedule.

You can finish a portion of your general education (GE) requirements online. Completing the general education requirements for one of the degrees at MDC does not guarantee admission to any other programs.

You must contact the recipient university if you intend to transfer courses from MDC to determine whether the units will transfer. The recipient institution will always have the final word on whether or not to accept transfer credits. You will always have a good alternative for studying if you attend MDC.
