Things to Do in Hollywood, FL

Are you looking for the top activities in Hollywood, Florida? Hollywood, tucked between the tourist traps of Miami to the south and Fort Lauderdale to the north, offers a wide variety of entertainment and cultural alternatives to locals and visitors.

Originally known as “Hollywood by the Sea,” it has long been a popular South Florida major metropolis for individuals seeking to escape the region’s air of materialism. Many young urban professionals, families, and people from all walks of life call this tranquil, pleasant city home.

You can find many great outdoor activities, hip restaurants, and a lively nightlife, provided it isn’t raining. In this section, we’ll highlight some of the entertaining events and attractions in and around Hollywood, Florida.

Anne Kolb Nature Center

The Anne Kolb Nature Center sits on a 607.43-hectare (1,501-acre) of protected coastal mangrove wetlands. An astonishing variety of natural flora and animals, some of which get threatened or endangered, are in these wetlands.

You can notice some of them if you keep your voice down as you go around the wooden paths. The South Trail is 2.3 miles (3.7 kilometers) long, Mud Flat Trail is 0.3 miles (0.48 kilometers) long, Fishing Pier Trail is 783 feet (238.65 meters) long, and Lake Trail is a total of four primary routes you can explore at the center, 0.2 miles (0.32 kilometers).

The center also offers guided boat tours that allow visitors to explore five enormous boat routes and fish in them. On land, a sizable display hall houses a saltwater aquarium and many itinerant exhibits by local artists with natural history themes.

Anniversary Park

The historic downtown of Hollywood is home to Anniversary Park. This little piece of wilderness offers significant dividends for those seeking relaxation and is a nice escape from the town’s bustle. Magnificent oak and magnolia trees cover the pathways, casting shady shadows over people seeking relief from the heat.

The park, a favorite spot for neighborhood families, also has a modest playground that is well-shaded. On one of the park’s many gaming tables, try your hand at a chess game, or take a seat on a bench for a relaxing breath of fresh air. Great cuisine is available at nearby restaurants when your stomach begins to growl.

ArtsPark at Young Circle

At ArtsPark at Young Circle, wonderful things happen all the time. There is always something going on in this 4.04-hectare (10 acres) circle, from dance performances to open-air concerts, movie evenings, and art festivals. Even better, everything is free!

This well-known tourist destination, which bears Joseph Wesley Young’s name, is full of a variety of attractions for both adults and children. The facilities include a playground, jogging trails, a splash pad, and a theater with seating for 2,500 people.

Another attraction is the Visual Arts Pavilion, which invites visitors inside to watch an artistic display (such as glass blowing) or take a class (i.e., martial arts).

Insider’s advice: If you enjoy the cuisine, you shouldn’t miss Food Truck Monday. This popular weekly event provides a ton of delicious food to this busy location.

Art and Culture Center/Hollywood

The Art and Culture Center/Hollywood offers visitors the ideal opportunity to take a break for shade because Hollywood is home to more than just magnificent beaches.

The Kagey Home, a bright yellow mansion built in 1924, is home to a modern gallery. There are four ground-level galleries with changing visual arts displays. In the exhibition areas upstairs, and works made by children in kindergarten through grade 7.

The Arts School is right next to the center’s main building and is where visitors can enroll in programs that have won awards. The third structure of the center, a 500-seat theater that hosts live performances of dance, music, and plays, is downtown.

Charnow Park

What better way to keep youngsters happy than to let them run wild on a playground by the sea? With a rock climbing wall, sprinklers, pavilions, and picnic tables, Charnow Park is an excellent oceanfront location. There is a paddleball complex with six courts just adjacent to these.

Founded in the 1930s, the park is technically a component of the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk, located just north of Hollywood Boulevard. It has toilets and a pavilion for entertainment where artists frequently perform everything from live jazz to pop hits.

The Italian institution Florio’s Restaurant of Hollywood, which serves some of the best pizza in town, is on the edge of the park.

Downtown Hollywood Mural Project

Hollywood didn’t require any further brightening because of the brilliantly blue skies and the glistening sun. The artists in charge of the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project were fortunately not informed of that. This distinctive collection of outdoor murals is magnificent and adds to the city’s allure.

These magnificent paintings, which feature anything from enormous whales to robots and the obligatory pink flamingos, are well worth the time of every visitor. You must take pictures since they are all so amazing. So make sure your camera roll has enough room for storage.

These murals, which you can find all around the downtown area, are properties of the Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency but made by artists from all over the city, the nation, and the world. “Enhance and enrich the existing cultural fabric of our town” is their objective. They are successful in doing it.

Holland Park

The lovely Holland Park is a hideaway at the end of a street in a residential area. It extends along the beaches of the Intracoastal Waterway and is significantly bigger than it appears from its unassuming entrance. It’s simple to forget you’re in a metropolis while strolling along the winding trails and wooden boardwalk.

Visit the observation deck by ascending for a breathtaking view. Then, unwind on one of the park’s many benches, each providing you with the most stunning sea views. Be on the lookout for an iguana. Since many of these cute animals are in the park, you won’t have to wait long to see one.

Insider’s tip: The area has several boat launches ideal for launching your kayak or canoe into the water. If you want to travel farther, there are larger crafts already prepared.

Hollywood Beach Boardwalk

A roughly 2.5-mile (4.02 kilometers) section of the spotless Hollywood Beach Boardwalk runs along the town’s shore.

This large promenade, a cheerful blip of bricked sidewalks, invites exercisers of all kinds. This well-traveled thoroughfare occasionally gets crowded with walkers, rollerbladers, scooter riders, bikers, and those pushing strollers.

Do you recall when we told you to visit Hollywood Beach to watch people? The meandering stone wall of the boardwalk is ideal for relaxing while engaging in this delightful activity. You can even nap under nearby palm trees if you catch it at the appropriate time of day.

You will only have to travel a little if you get hungry. Along with shops and bike and water activity rental businesses, this area is in line with various seaside eateries.

Hollywood Beach

Most visitors to Hollywood travel there to enjoy its world-class beach, a haven of soft, sugar-white sand, blue water, and soaring palms that gently wave in the breeze. You can see why so many visitors pass up this amazing spectacle when considering the constant bright blue sky. It’s no surprise that people view it as one of the top beaches in nearby Fort Lauderdale.

Although little Hollywood beach lacks the flash and glamor of its more well-known Californian counterpart, it attracts many visitors and offers plenty of excellent possibilities for people-watching.

A long paved boardwalk on the shore draws people of all kinds (from bikini-clad rollerbladers to well-dressed dog walkers). Picturesque coastal cafés, eateries, and retail stores surround it.

This gorgeous location is a much more sedate, calmer area to spend a day at the seaside. It is almost exactly midway between the well-known Fort Lauderdale (to the north) and Miami beaches (to the south). It’s simple to locate a spot to relax, play frisbee, or do yoga on the sand because of its broad, open width.

Hollywood North Beach Park

There are many reasons to adore Hollywood North Beach Park. Visitors to this enormous paradise enjoy a 22.66-hectare (56-acre) of sand, walking walkways, picnic tables, and tall, slender palm trees. Access to the Boardwalk and the open Hollywood Beach is also available.

Parking is simple to find at the intersection of Sheridan Street and A1A. Additionally, there is a set daily price, so you won’t have to worry about feeding the meter constantly.

Bring food for lunch or dinner, use the grills to prepare it, and extend your stay. Or you can grab something at one of the many eateries around. Numerous amenities (such as showers), an observation tower, and a fishing pier are also available.

Marine Environmental Education Center

At Hollywood North Beach Park, the historic, two-story Carpenter House serves as the home of the Marine Environmental Education Center. The house also serves as a sea turtle teaching center, which works to raise awareness of the condition of endangered sea turtles and other species in the South Florida area.

The Marine Environmental Education Center treats not only sick or injured turtles but also holds public feeding sessions, talks, hatchling release programs, and other special activities to inspire visitors and locals to do more to help these lovely but endangered species.

This educational oasis in Hollywood is a great destination for families with children since it employs murals, sculptures, hands-on activities, and engaging stories to make learning enjoyable. You won’t need to spend much time visiting the center because it is small, but its message is significant and broad.

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel, Hollywood

You will want to stay in the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel after getting comfortable there. You may get everything you need for an amazing holiday at this enormous resort.

You may get everything you need right here, whether traveling as a couple looking for romance or with kids who want continual entertainment! The amenities include a wonderful spa, access to several local golf courses, and a long strip of boutique shops (26,000 square feet (2,415.47 square meters), to be precise). It makes sense why people regard it as one of Hollywood’s top tourist destinations.

The resort also has a ton of pools! With more than 5.46 hectares (13.5 acres) of pool space, visitors can select from a park that resembles a beach, a tropical lagoon-style pool with waterfalls, or a huge water feature that offers canoeing, SUPing, paddle boating, and other sports. The latter water feature is the size of three football fields. Additionally, the hotel has a sizable waterslide and Jacuzzis.

Since it’s a Hard Rock Hotel, you may expect music. You also understand that good music is a given. The hottest musicians in the entertainment world, such as Rod Stewart, Adam Sandler, and The Who, are among the featured acts. Funny comedians like Jerry Seinfeld, speakers, and enormous screens that show athletic events from across the world all grace the stage.

You don’t have to stay at the hotel to take advantage of these enjoyable amenities, but you should reserve events and a cabana in advance.

Topeekeegee Yugnee Park

This charming urban area, which locals call TY Park, will occupy children and adults of all ages. One of the nicest locations to go to in Hollywood is TY Park, which offers a variety of sports (from racquetball to fishing). And while you’re here, you can never get bored.

Topeekeegee Yungee, which translates to “meeting or gathering place” in Seminole, is the perfect name for the park. This attraction’s roughly 55.84 hectares (138 acres) are home to camping areas and many biking and walking trails shaded by big, shady trees.

Castaway is a fun, manageable-sized water park that is a favorite with families. People often get invitations to gather and play on its tennis and volleyball courts, playground, picnic area, and fitness center.

Do you favor being on the water? Fear not; TY Park also has a huge swimming lagoon and marina. You are welcome to splash around as much as you like or to board a swan boat for a tranquil journey. There’s a lake with a gigantic fountain and a fishing pier.

West Lake Park

There are many mangroves in this gorgeous park, best explored by water. The three-mile-long estuary that makes up West Lake is home to some of Florida’s most cherished wildlife, including alligators, iguanas, and herons. The park has a picnic area, tennis courts, and a marina, and it links to the Anne Kolb Nature Center.

A secret tip: To explore the watery lanes through the mangroves, rent a kayak from the marina. You can also use a paddleboard or a canoe to go about it. To make it easier to navigate, the trails have red, white, and green colored markings.

Yellow Green Farmers Market

Farmers’ markets offer a lot of benefits. Numerous fresh fruits and vegetables get piled high on the tables. The aroma of freshly made bread fills the air, and vibrant flowers explode from pots, pleading with guests to take them home. This adoration gets elevated to a whole new level by Hollywood’s wildly popular Yellow Green Farmers Market.

This weekend event is the biggest market of its kind in South Florida, covering an area of 100,000 square feet (9,290 square meters) and housing more than 200 booths. You’re sure to find what you’re searching for at this expansive location: raw honey, purple cauliflower, or kombucha. However, it can occasionally appear overwhelming due to its size.

More good news: Dogs are welcome, so bring your preferred canine companion. You will undoubtedly discover handmade dog treats.
