Pima Medical Institute Locations
Arizona’s Pima County is home to Pima Community College (PCC), a public community college. It provides a community college district with five campuses, four learning centers, and numerous adult education learning centers for the Tucson metropolitan region. For more than 144 programs, it offers both traditional and online training.
Additionally, the college provides post-baccalaureate certificates, non-credit personal interest seminars, and workforce training. PCC is one of the biggest community colleges with multiple campuses in the US, with a relative size ranking that ranges from fourth to tenth largest.
The Higher Learning Commission recognizes the campuses and educational facilities of PCC.
The location of the West Campus is where Pima College’s first campus had stood. Classes were on in various Tucson locales before the campus opening.
The college district has grown since 1971 to accommodate the expanding educational demands of the Tucson region. The campuses and learning center offer traditional classroom instruction, online, and hands-on learning options. In the greater Tucson area, there are six campuses:
- Community College (closed in 2019).
- Desert Vista Campus.
- Desert Vista Campus Downtown Campus.
- East Campus.
- Northwest Campus.
- West Campus.
There are additionally four centers for learning and education:
- Davis-Monthan Air force Base Education Center.
- Green Valley Community Learning Center.
- Southeast Education Center.
- Community Campus.
To address non-traditional educational demands, including adult education, non-degree activity classes, and online learning, the Pima Community College community campus has existed since 1975. The college relocated in 1997 to a new location near St. Mary’s Road and Interstate 10 at Bonita Avenue and Commerce Park Loop.
The teacher education program was on the property. When Community Campus closed in 2019, it transferred many of its services to the Northwest, West, and Downtown campuses.
Desert Vista Campus
The Desert Vista campus was the South Education Center in 1986. It has been in its current location since 1993. Between Irvington Road and Valencia Road on Calle Santa Cruz, west of Interstate 19, the college is in Valencia Viejo, a former Hohokam settlement.
The Center for Training and Development site offers workforce training to the local business sector. It supports the neighboring Aviation Technology Center at Tucson International Airport.
Downtown Campus
The Downtown Campus, established in 1974, is on Stone Avenue between Speedway Boulevard and Drachman Street, just east of Interstate 10 and near downtown Tucson. The standard academic, professional, technical, and trade programs are available. The district bought the historic Tucson Inn in 2018 and integrated it into the campus.
East Campus
The institution developed the east learning center in 1976. When a new building erupted on 23 hectares (58 acres) of land at Irvington Road and Fred Enke drive, close to Davis-Monthan air force base, it became the east campus in 1981. Both veterinary technology and emergency medical technology are in their programs.
David G. Iadevaia, a professor, established the college east campus observatory in 1989. It contains the instructional planetarium and observatory for Pima College’s east campus. After spending many years in improvised, temporary spaces, the observatory has a brand-new, permanent home that Professor Iadevaia created.
The observatory is a crucial component of astronomy education for the general public and enrolled students.
Northwest Campus
The newest PCC site, the Northwest campus, has been in existence since 2003 from the 1998-founded northwest community learning center. The 50 hectares (20 acres) complex is in north Tucson on Shannon road between Ina and Magee. The hotel/restaurant management and therapeutic massage programs are on campus.
West Campus
The West Site of Pima Community College is the college’s first campus. It is on 108.1 hectares (267 acres) west of Interstate 10 between Anklam Road and Speedway Boulevard. The Pima Post newspaper and Cababi literary journal have west campus offices, the center for archaeological field training, the center for the arts, and other facilities.
The college’s health-related professions programs are on the site. The student literary magazine sand script is on the west campus.
